The Freshmen Academy was fortunate to be awarded a cinnamon basil seed project from NASA! Space Shuttle Endeavour carried two educational payloads on mission STS-118 August 8th and returned August 21st, 2007. We received both the seeds that had been taken to space and control seeds of the same type. Our mission is to germinate the seeds to see if the lack of gravity made any difference on their ability to grow. We will keep you posted.
We will meet TODAY, Monday (May 12) and Thursday (May 15 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Library Conference Room. Don’t forget to bring your music books, picks and tuners if you took them home. See you there!

Please remember, parents are to drop off and/or pick up their students in the back fenced parking lot behind Weber. Dropping students off in front of the school or in the front or side parking lot causes traffic congestion on Weber Street. The front (Weber Street) or side (Madison St.) parking lots are for staff and visitor parking ONLY. Students driving their own vehicle or being dropped off may enter school in the morning through the double glass doors in the Medical Academy.
Student parking is the fenced area behind Weber or on the street - NO EXCEPTIONS. The entrance to the student parking lot is on Madison street. Students driving his/her car to school will need to have a parking permit. Parking permits will be available beginning next week. Watch the bulletin for more details.
Bus Passes
Bus passes are going to be distributed in the Academies again this year. If you need a buss pass, see your Academy Clerk.
Food and Drinks
Food and/or drinks are NOT allowed in the hallways or classrooms.
Field Trips
Students chosen to participate in any Weber sponsored field trip MUST obtain a grade check prior to being allowed to participate in the field trip. A student with a "D" or "F" grade in any class will not be able to participate in the field trip.
Dress Code & Electronics
Dress code enforcement begins when you enter the building. It will be enforced all day while school is in session. The District’s policy on electronic listening devices (ie., iPod), headphones and/or cell phones is that they are not allowed on campus. (On campus is anywhere on the school grounds. If you must use your cell phone at lunch you need to be on the sidewalk!) If you are seen with any of these devices in the school building AT ANY TIME, it will be confiscated, a parent must come to school to claim the device, and you may be assigned detention.
Hall Passes & Student ID’s
No student should be in the hallways without a written hall pass. You will be asked for a hall pass if you are in the hallways during class time. Also, there are to be no restroom passes issued during the first or last 15 minutes of class. Use your time during passing periods wisely!!
